Function

Catalytic subunit of the DNA polymerase alpha complex (also known as the alpha DNA polymerase-primase complex) which plays an essential role in the initiation of DNA synthesis. During the S phase of the cell cycle, the DNA polymerase alpha complex (composed of a catalytic subunit PolA1, an accessory subunit PolA2 and two primase subunits, the catalytic subunit Prim1 and the regulatory subunit Prim2) is recruited to DNA at the replicative forks. The primase subunit of the polymerase alpha complex initiates DNA synthesis by oligomerising short RNA primers on both leading and lagging strands. These primers are initially extended by the polymerase alpha catalytic subunit and subsequently transferred to polymerase delta and polymerase epsilon for processive synthesis on the lagging and leading strand, respectively. In addition to polymerase activity, exhibits 3' to 5' exonuclease activity.

Reconstitution

We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20 °C/-80 °C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Lead Time

Delivery time may differ from different purchasing ways or locations, please kindly consult us for specific delivery times.

Storage & Handling

Storage Condition

Store at -20 °C/-80 °C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for multiple use.

Shelf Life

The shelf life is related to many factors, including storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature, and the stability of the protein itself. Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20 °C/-80 °C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20 °C/-80 °C.

Handling

Repeated freezing and thawing are not recommended.

Limitations

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Store working aliquots at 4 °C for up to one week.
