Probable S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase which specifically dimethylates mitochondrial 12S rRNA at the conserved stem loop. In contrast to mtTFB2, it does not have a critical role in either transcription or regulation of the copy number of mitochondrial DNA.
